Priya & Anuj – Engagement

Priya & Anuj – Engagement

I’m happy to share a few images from Priya & Anuj’s stylish engagement session in downtown Toronto: Starting out at Osgoode Hall: …then a few shots at the famous Flatiron Building. Later we popped into a cool Russian-themed bar called Pravda to escape the heat, grab a drink and capture a few cool images in the process: Hope you guys had fun, despite the sweltering heat. Looking forward to the wedding next week!...

Lisa & Mike – Engagement

Lisa & Mike – Engagement

I’m excited to share our fun and romantic engagement shoot with Lisa and Mike taken at the fantastic Lakeside Park in Oakville: I always like to start out with some easy and fun shots to lighten things up and get the couple relaxed and it certainly worked in this case: Mike works in construction and it so happened that some work was being done on the pier so we thought these next couple of shots would be appropriate: I love using off-camera lighting to create drama like the above image, but sometimes the natural light (when posed for properly) can look amazing as well: It was great getting to know you both better and I’m really looking forward to the wedding in September! Cheers,...

Fritzie & Shawn Engagement Session – Taormina, Italy

Fritzie & Shawn Engagement Session – Taormina, Italy

I’m very excited to present Fritzie and Shawn’s engagement photos.  We recently had the fantastic opportunity to accompany them to the beautiful town of Taormina in Sicily to capture the events of their wedding celebration. Here’s a small selection of my favourites from their engagement session a few days before the big event: Taormina is such a picturesque little town.  There were so many colours and textures around every corner – it was tough to choose where to shoot next.  It reminded me a lot of Bellagio where we shot Doug & Jasmeena’s engagement a few years back. Taormina is a rather busy tourist town, even in November, so it took a lot of patience (and a little Photoshop) to get this image with no tourists in the background. We captured a fantastic fun series of the happy couple strolling along this colourful street: When you’re having such a great time, it’s often tough to get those serious expressions… …usually when I ask for a serious shot, I get something like this: Of course, you can’t have a trip to Italy without trying some Gelato! Thanks so much again for allowing us to join you on this great adventure!  Iveta and I had a blast! Stay tuned for the wedding photos coming up soon! Cheers,...

Marnie & Michael – Engagement

Marnie & Michael – Engagement

We had a great time shooting Marnie and Michael’s engagement session recently at the picturesque Distillery District and Berczy Park in Toronto. They were so relaxed and comfortable with each other and I think it really shows in the resulting photos: I shot this one through the hanging material seen in the two above images for a romantic “foggy” look: And finally, I had some fun with my infrared camera and captured some dramatic B&W cityscape portraits: I really had a blast working with the two of you and hope we can do it again when you’re back from Vegas! Cheers,...

Melissa & Paul – Engagement

Melissa & Paul – Engagement

Last week we made our way out to Paletta Lakefront Park and Mansion in Burlington for Melissa and Paul’s engagement session.  It was a fantastic place for photos (as evident by the 3 wedding parties that were roaming the grounds on a Friday evening) and the sky was beautiful and dramatic. A gaggle of geese were milling about in the background for the first few shots in this series then suddenly they all took flight and we got this cool shot as a result (and managed not to get pooped on too): I’ve been wanting to try this lighting setup for a while and I’m very happy with how it turned out: There was hardly any colourful foliage on the property (except for one nice red tree in the parking lot) but this one little corner of a tree looked nice so I found a way to incorporate it into a photo by backing up and compressing the perspective with a long lens: The combination of a dramatic sky and some off-camera lighting (plus my new toy – a mini softbox) make for a romantic conclusion to our little engagement story: I hope you guys had a fun time and I look forward to catching up with you at the wedding when we’re back from Italy. Cheers,...

Clara & Jamie – Engagement

Clara & Jamie chose the posh Yorkville area of Toronto as the location for their engagement session and right off the bat we were getting fantastic photos. Here’s the very first shot of the day: I love it when you can isolate a specific element of the environment to make an awesome graphic background: This alleyway offered some interesting architectural elements as well as some great bits of complimentary colour to the sky and Jamie’s shirt for a pleasing composition: There was a fantastic old church across from the ROM that had some amazing light and this is one of the dozens of great shots we got in that location: The ROM itself made for an amazing graphic backdrop – especially at this time of day: After touring around the UofT campus and exploring some of the nearby streets, we made our way down Bloor Street to make use of some of the fancy storefronts Bloor had to offer: Tiffany & Co (good luck breaking into this place!): We walked by this place at the start of the session but the light wasn’t right. I’m glad we came back at the end as the light as incredible and made for a bunch of great images to finish off the session: I had a great time exploring the Yorkville area with the both of you! So many great locations! Cheers,...
