Fritzie & Shawn – Day After Shoot

Here is the final installment of Fritzie & Shawn’s amazing Italian wedding.  The morning after the wedding, we made our way down the cable car for a short intimate photo session by the sea: I hope you both had as much fun as I did capturing every aspect of your beautiful wedding story. I can’t wait to get starting on your album – it’s going to look amazing! Stay tuned for some travel photos coming soon from our tour through Rome, Florence and Venice! Cheers,...

Fritzie & Shawn Wedding – Taormina, Italy

Fritzie & Shawn Wedding – Taormina, Italy

Here’s part 2 of Fritzie & Shawn’s epic Italian wedding adventure! The view from our balcony at Villa Carlotta on the morning of the wedding was breathtaking.  If only every work day could start with a scene like this!: Here’s Shawn rocking his awesome (appropriately Italian) Pal Zileri suit: I love this candid shot of Franzel.  I tried shooting some more like this but nothing came out as well as the first unposed capture: The gardens had a magical dreamy quality to the light: Here’s a little story of the “reveal” where the bride and groom see each other for the first time: The view from the gardens was spectacular with the coastline, town of Taormina and Mt Etna in the distance: There are no shortages of beautifully ornate churches in Italy, and this one was no exception: They never let us throw rice in Canada…it makes for such an emotive post-ceremony image: After the ceremony, we all went next door to a café for some champagne and a toast: Here’s my first hand cameo: A few more shots near the church before we made our way to the reception: Villa Antonio is rated Taormina’s top-rated restaurant on Trip Adviser and for good reason…the food was amazing!  And for a treat of another sort, the bride and groom put on a great show for their guests with an elegant waltz to start off the dancing… …then broke out into a mini flash-mob with the entire bridal party!  Those dance lessons sure paid off! I think it’s safe to say that everyone had a fantastic trip and this will live long in our memories as one of the best weddings we’ve ever been a part of! Cheers,...

Fritzie & Shawn Engagement Session – Taormina, Italy

Fritzie & Shawn Engagement Session – Taormina, Italy

I’m very excited to present Fritzie and Shawn’s engagement photos.  We recently had the fantastic opportunity to accompany them to the beautiful town of Taormina in Sicily to capture the events of their wedding celebration. Here’s a small selection of my favourites from their engagement session a few days before the big event: Taormina is such a picturesque little town.  There were so many colours and textures around every corner – it was tough to choose where to shoot next.  It reminded me a lot of Bellagio where we shot Doug & Jasmeena’s engagement a few years back. Taormina is a rather busy tourist town, even in November, so it took a lot of patience (and a little Photoshop) to get this image with no tourists in the background. We captured a fantastic fun series of the happy couple strolling along this colourful street: When you’re having such a great time, it’s often tough to get those serious expressions… …usually when I ask for a serious shot, I get something like this: Of course, you can’t have a trip to Italy without trying some Gelato! Thanks so much again for allowing us to join you on this great adventure!  Iveta and I had a blast! Stay tuned for the wedding photos coming up soon! Cheers,...

Travel Photo of the Week #3

Travel Photo of the Week #3

This is one of my favourite images from our trip to London in 2005.  We waited until the ambient light was just right to balance with the artificial lights on the tower – allowing for proper exposure of both the sky the tower.  I really lucked out with the perfect cloud cover and placement of the crescent moon to add a unique touch to a very famous and highly photographed landmark. The Clock Tower in the Palace of Westminster is commonly referred to as “Big Ben” but as we learned in our bus tour, Big Ben is the nick name of just the great bell in the tower.  Built in 1858, it is the largest four-faced chiming clock and the third-tallest free-standing clock tower in the...

Travel Photo of the Week #2

Travel Photo of the Week #2

This week we’re off to Paris, France with one of my favourite shots from our trip in 2005. This is a view looking down Avenue De La Grande Armeé from the top of Arc De Triomphe. The view from here at dusk and early evening is breathtaking and you can see almost all of Paris’ famous attractions from The Louvre, Notre Dame, The Pantheon, Eiffel Tower, Sacre-Coeur and more. This was a combination of two photos – one long exposure to capture the light streaks from the cars and a shorter exposure to capture the city sharply (they wouldn’t allow tripods up there so it was quite tricky to get a sharp...

Travel Photo of the Week #1

Travel Photo of the Week #1

Starting this week, I’m going to be posting a new travel photo every week from some of our adventures around the world.  Locations will include Canada, the United States, England, France, Italy and New Zealand plus hopefully many more in the future. This week’s photo is one of my favourites from our trip to Lake Como, Italy in 2006.  We were lucky enough to be flown out there for Doug and Jasmeena’s wedding and stayed a few days afterward for a mini-vacation.  The photo below is a view down Salita Serbelloni in the gorgeous little town of Bellagio – considered by some to be one of the most beautiful towns in Europe. It’s filled with quaint shops and cafés, cobblestone streets and colourful architecture in every shade of red, orange and yellow.  All this set along the shores of stunning Lago Di Como and surrounded by the Prealp mountains. Prints of this and other travel photos can be purchased at my online Fine Art Gallery. We have this image hanging in our home as a 20×30 canvas wrap and it looks absolutely...
