Payne Family – Baby Session

Payne Family – Baby Session

Last week I had a chance to get together with some old friends and meet their adorable new baby boy.  Here’s what we captured during our mixed studio and location portrait session: Daddy getting Kevin spiffed up for the photo shoot: This series cracks me up.  I call it: “Doesn’t taste as good as it looks” Proud mom and dad with their little munchkin: We were goofing around with a bunch of his toys and then he pulled this adorable expression: A little reverse game of “got your nose”: I love this moment with mother and son: After the “studio” session, we popped outside to get some shots with the beautiful fall foliage: It was so great to see you guys again and meet little Kevin!  I hope we can do it again soon. Cheers,...

Marnie & Michael – Engagement

Marnie & Michael – Engagement

We had a great time shooting Marnie and Michael’s engagement session recently at the picturesque Distillery District and Berczy Park in Toronto. They were so relaxed and comfortable with each other and I think it really shows in the resulting photos: I shot this one through the hanging material seen in the two above images for a romantic “foggy” look: And finally, I had some fun with my infrared camera and captured some dramatic B&W cityscape portraits: I really had a blast working with the two of you and hope we can do it again when you’re back from Vegas! Cheers,...

Melissa & Paul – Engagement

Melissa & Paul – Engagement

Last week we made our way out to Paletta Lakefront Park and Mansion in Burlington for Melissa and Paul’s engagement session.  It was a fantastic place for photos (as evident by the 3 wedding parties that were roaming the grounds on a Friday evening) and the sky was beautiful and dramatic. A gaggle of geese were milling about in the background for the first few shots in this series then suddenly they all took flight and we got this cool shot as a result (and managed not to get pooped on too): I’ve been wanting to try this lighting setup for a while and I’m very happy with how it turned out: There was hardly any colourful foliage on the property (except for one nice red tree in the parking lot) but this one little corner of a tree looked nice so I found a way to incorporate it into a photo by backing up and compressing the perspective with a long lens: The combination of a dramatic sky and some off-camera lighting (plus my new toy – a mini softbox) make for a romantic conclusion to our little engagement story: I hope you guys had a fun time and I look forward to catching up with you at the wedding when we’re back from Italy. Cheers,...

Kittie in Concert: Opera House, Toronto

I had the pleasure of photographing one of my favourite Metal bands as they played a show at the Opera House in Toronto on March 3rd, 2010 (yeah, it’s taken me a while to post these).  Kittie is a London Ontario-based Heavy Metal/Alt Metal band formed in 1996 with 5 studio albums under their belts and a new one currently in the works.  This was my first time seeing them live and they put on a fantastic show.  The irony of their name is quite apparent once you’re confronted with their face-melting sound and this is further emphasized by their stage setup consisting of hot pink microphones and pink be-hearted drum kit with a teddy bear in the rack!  Here’s the lead singer Morgan Lander shredding away during a solo: …and then you get fun moments like this and you realize that it’s not all about guttural screams, killer riffs and chest-pounding double bass, but four girls just having a blast rocking out together: (Their new Wikipedia image) Ivy Vujic on bass pulling a classic metal pose: ♫ Disguised behind the lies,Do you not realize? This is heartless,This is CUT THROAT! ♫ Tara McLeod on lead guitar: A fun moment with Tara and Ivy: Mercedes and her signature drum kit.  Neil Peart’s may have more pieces, but does it have hearts and a teddy bear?  I don’t think so. Here’s a slideshow of some more photos from the show: Slideshow...

Corporate Portrait – Owner of Marme Canada

As a bit of a departure from my usual portrait and wedding work, I recently had the pleasure of photographing the owner of Marme Canada and The Tile Shoppe at his office and showroom in Concord Ontario.  Some of the images will be published in the upcoming edition of the Business Development Bank of Canada’s Profit$ magazine.  Have a look and let me know what you think… It was a pleasure working with you, Suleyman, and I wish you all the best with the business and the upcoming article. Cheers,...
