Melissa & Darragh - Maternity Session

I shot Melissa & Darragh's wedding almost two years ago to the day and I was honoured to be asked recently to photograph the next big step in their lives!

This was my first maternity session and I was very grateful that Melissa & Darragh let me go wild and try some different stuff:

After getting a bunch of "lifestyle" photos around the house, we switched over to a little home studio I set up in their living room which is something I've never done before. It's amazing what you can do with a single hotshoe flash, a couple of blankets and a white ceiling...and a beautiful pregnant model of course!

A little homage to one of my favourite movies of all time (American Beauty):

Now for some more traditional "studio" portraits:

This one makes me chuckle every time...so cute!

This was kind of an inside joke and an homage to a similar shot I took of Darragh at their wedding (see next image):

Or I guess it would make more sense in B&W:

It was so great catching up with you both again and I can't wait for part two when the little bundle of joy arrives!

Cheers,

Michael

Hello Mr. Moore I am a fan of your work. I have been doing photography for the last 6 years and graphic design for the last 10.. I am a 25 year old military veteran and I am getting back my groove since getting out the military and was hoping to get some advice from you. See I use an old Fuji S9000 but soon I will be upgrading to Canon 50D with IS telephoto and Zoom lenses, My images are coming out superb and are getting allot of attention here in Houston, but I want the feel that your images bring. As a natural artist I am inspired my so many depth, color and vibration that your images bring. So I was wondering, besides the camera and lens, what else do you use. Like your light setup, and shoe mount light. this is important to me because when I upgrade my camera I don’t want to get lights that are going to be non effective esp. since more companies are contacting me to shoot for them. I know you are in Canada so I hope I am far away for you to be able to give me some tips and not feel like I am stepping on your toes. From one artist to another.. Jamiel.. you can reach me.. at JB@desiarmor.com thank you and I’m looking forward to your reply
