Melissa & Darragh

Yesterday's wedding was a great success. Besides the bitter cold -17C weather, it was a beautiful day and I think everyone had a great time...at least I know I did.

The happy couple had just gotten married in Mexico the week before (and they left me here in frigid Canada...the buggers!)...so we were mostly concentrating on capturing some great portraits of the couple, bridal party and immediate family for their Fine Art Book album. I think we accomplished that...

Is this sexy, or what? I keep picturing this image in a magazine for a cosmetics ad.

This is why I love to shoot weddings. The elegance, the glamour...capturing people at their very best!

We got some playful images at the home before heading out to the pub. I like the Hollywood glam feel to this one.

Like most of my couples, these two were real troopers. This is just after sunset and the temperature was probably dipping close to -20C at this point. I think Melissa just wanted an excuse to show off her mukluks. ;)

I'm a sucker for a beautiful woman with hair falling across her face! I forgot my reflector disk back at the car and didn't want to waste any time out in the freezing cold, so I had to get a little resourceful and bounce my flash off my assistant. Sorry about demoting you to reflector status here, but thanks for wearing the light coloured jacket, Jennifer! <-- Another trooper right there.

After freezing our buns off for a bit, we headed out to a cool rustic pub down the road which made for some funky backdrops. We got a bunch of great shots just in this little hallway alone!

Shaken...not stirred. Ok, so it's not a martini glass, but I like the suave look to this shot of Darragh. Very 007.

Very cool venue for the last shots of the night!

That's it for now. Time to get down to the editing of the remaining hundreds of images...and designing the album, which is going to be awsome!

Nana's 90th Birthday

I just finished editing the photos from my latest family portrait session. Quite a unique event, this one. They had family coming from all over the world...Ireland, Australia, the Bahamas (why they chose to meet in chilly ol' Canada, I'm not quite sure)...just for their Nana's 90th birthday party. The two lovely ladies in the 7th image thought it would be a nice gift for their Nana to hire me to capture some portraits of the family. I hope she likes them:

Can you believe this lady is 90 years old?! Granted I did a bit of retouching here, but still. I hope I look this good and am this spry when I'm her age!

Nana and the grandkids takin' a break at the bar.

The whole gang out by the old barn.

Had some time to get a few nice couples portraits. The beginnings of that 40cm of snowfall starting to show itself.

Just thought this was a cute moment.

Cool idea for the T-shirts. CAC is Nana's initials, "est. 1916" referrs to her birth year, 90 is her age...and on the back lists the "world tour" locations of all the countries she's visited. Nana's done some travelling in her day! Here she is thinking about what she should wish for before she blows out her 90 candles. I love the little girl's expression here!

The two beautiful granddaughters who hired me.

The snow was really coming down by the time I left. This shot so reminds me of a beer commercial. Can't get more Canadian than this!
