Andrea & Ryan - Engagement

We all had a great time at Andrea and Ryan's engagement session. We started out grabbing some shots at their home for a more personal touch:

Then we made our way out to Chinguacousy Park and had a ball wandering around and finding great spots for some fun photos:

Thanks for a great evening guys. Looking forward to the wedding in September!

Cheers,

Michael

Cassie & Joe - Wedding

When I first met with Cassie & Joe I knew we were going to get some great pictures. Not only did we all click but I could really feel the love between them and that always comes out in the photos.

Here's a nice candid of Cassie getting some help from her girls in checking the veil placement. I later re-staged it to get a better angle, but I ended up liking the original better:

The ceremony was held at the picturesque St Joseph's Church in Hamilton:

After grabbing a few quick formals at the church (above), we made our way to Gage park. Sometimes the best shots are the ones *between* the poses:

The weather was far from ideal for infrared photography, but with a little off-camera flash goodness, we made it work:

Trying something new here with some coloured lighting for the dancing:

...and my obligatory "last shot of the night":

I hope you two are having a blast traveling the world and looking forward to hearing from you when you get back.

Cheers,

Michael

Krista & Martin - Wedding

Krista & Martin put together a classy and elegant wedding celebration making it easy to find great photo opportunities throughout the day:

I shot a series of their adorable son Bjorn making all kinds of faces in the morning. This was one of my favourites:

After the ceremony we popped over to their cottage for a few photos before the reception:

The whole happy family:

We then made our way to the exclusive Wildfire Golf Club for the reception:

Kim & Kevin - Wedding

Kim and Kevin put together a great intimate wedding celebration with their closest friends and family on a Friday afternoon. I had a great time getting to know them and watching the heartfelt interaction between such a close group.

This shot is a common request and it always turns out great:

We captured tons of great shots in the morning, both indoors and out:

Kim rocked this photo...I definitely can't take all the credit for this one:

The ceremony was held in the intimate garden sanctuary of Tyrone United Church.

Then we made our way to Black Diamond Golf Club for the reception and some more photos:

Kim said she wanted lots of photos with "big skies"....mission accomplished. ;)

And my favourite of the day:

I was going through my recent blog entries the other day and I realized that almost all of my favourite images are the more creative portraits with dynamic lighting, etc. etc. but I have very little representation of the natural candid shots that help to tell the story in between. So I thought I'd post a small selection of the photojournalistic images I captured that day as well:

Cheers,

Michael

A family portrait session

I recently had the pleasure of photographing a family whom I met at a recent wedding. I just had to share this one image of them that I just love:

Published in WedLuxe Magazine!

How exciting! WedLuxe is one of the leading high-end wedding publications in Canada. I'm so honoured that they've chosen to publish an editorial on a wedding I photographed last year - Kerri & Ben's wedding in Niagara-on-the-Lake!

You can see the editorial here: www.wedluxe.com/index.cfm?id=7145 ...or have a look at your local newsstand.

The editorial is featured in WedLuxe's "Real-life Weddings" gallery on page 64 of the Summer/Fall 2008 issue. This section highlights the unique and/or high-end details of the featured weddings, so the focus is more on the details than the portraits, but if you're interested in seeing more from that wedding, be sure to check out Kerri & Ben's blog entry or their engagement session entry.
