On our recent trip to NYC I was determined to get this one shot of the lower Manhattan skyline from Brooklyn. I wanted to get it from the other side of Brooklyn Bridge so I could include more of the bridge in the shot but some security guards said there wasn't any access to the park after dusk (and from the look of the area, I probably wouldn't have wanted to go there at night anyway!). This image size doesn't do the original justice. It's a 3-image stitch for a total size of 20 megapixels and the amount of detail is incredible. The absence of the twin towers has had a huge impact on the skyline and although I haven't seen the pre-9/11 skyline with my own eyes, I'm sure it stands as a stark reminder to every New Yorker of that great tragedy every time they view the empty sky where the towers once proudly stood. On that grim note...stay tuned for more images from New York, including a bunch of images from my new Infrared camera! |
